Special Transports
For special transports, the following vehicles are available at Esrange: a small lorry, pick-ups, a truck, and snowmobiles. For loading and unloading there are forklifts.
Freight and Customs Clearance
In order to avoid complications and delays with customs clearance all users are strongly advised to contact Esrange Logistics in any matter concerning shipments or customs clearance. Always notify us for your shipments. For the user’s convenience some information is given below.
Freight to Esrange
Kiruna has very good communications and goods to Esrange can be transported by ship, road, rail, mail or by air. Customs clearance will be done by our forwarding agents at the ports of entry. Shipments from the states in the European Union are considered as goods in free circulation and are exempt form all kind of customs duties. For equipment shipped from countries outside the European Union, a temporary admission should be arranged to avoid customs duties and taxes. An ATA Carnet, issued by the Chamber of Commerce in the country of exportation, is recommended. In exceptional cases, Swedish Customs can grant a temporary admission for separate equipment. This requires that Esrange files an application in advance, prior to the equipment arrives into Sweden. The User must provide all necessary information for such an application.

Kiruna is served from Arlanda by SAS with regular passenger flights (MD-80) which can load cargo of limited weights and dimensions. Goods shipped by SAS Cargo, addressed to SSC Esrange Kiruna, will be immediately transferred from Arlanda to Kiruna Airport. Chartered air cargo flights to Kiruna Airport can also be arranged. Surface Transport
There are daily road and railway transport services to Kiruna from any port of entry to Sweden.
Freight from Esrange
Esrange Logistics will handle the dispatching of goods. The User must provide all necessary documents for the dispatch.
Transport in Kiruna
Kiruna is served by local firms for various surface and air transports. Local air transports are limited to small planes and helicopters for passengers or goods.
