How to get here
Kiruna has good air, rail, and road connections. It is recommended to use winter tyres from mid-October until mid-April.

Travel by air
There are daily flights from Stockholm, Arlanda to Kiruna. Flight time from Stockholm to Kiruna is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Kiruna airport is situated a few kilometers outside Kiruna. The local taxi service or rental cars are recommended for transport from the airport.

Travel by railway
Two trains from Stockholm arrive daily at Kiruna. The traveling time from Stockholm to Kiruna is around 17 hours. The Kiruna railway station is situated close to the city centre, but taxi transport is still recommended.

Travel by road
The highway E 10 connects Luleå on the Swedish east coast with Kiruna and continues to Narvik in Norway. The traveling time from Luleå to Kiruna is about 4 hours. The traveling time from Kiruna to Narvik is about 3 hours.
If you drive from Luleå you drive on the highway E10 and follow the sign to Kiruna. At about 10 km south of Kiruna you turn right towards Jukkasjärvi and follow this road until you find yourself in the middle of the village. There you turn left and follow the sign to Esrange, around 25 km east of Jukkasjärvi.

Travel, Kiruna to Esrange
Esrange is accessible from Kiruna by road. There is no public transportation available, cars or taxis must be used. The distance is 45 km, driving time is about 45 minutes.
From Kiruna airport or the town of Kiruna you drive south on the hightway E10. At about 10 km south of Kiruna you turn left towards Jukkasjärvi and follow this road until you find yourself in the middle of the village. There you turn left and follow the sign to Esrange, around 25 km east of Jukkasjärvi.

Esrange can also arrange a rental car if an advance request is made. Presently, Esrange has an agreement with Hertz and Europecar on special prices. The cars can be requested in advance, to be available at the airport or the railway station upon arrival in Kiruna. On departure from Kiruna the cars can be left at the airport or at the railway station, where the car rental firm will pick them up.

Taxi
There are taxi services for both local and out of town drives. The fare for the ride from Kiruna to Esrange is approximately 500 SEK during 06.00 - 22.00 hours and approximately 600 SEK during 22.00 - 06.00 hours.
